This certification-related course will present the firefighter candidate with the knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfy the requirements of Chapters Five and Six of NFPA 1001: Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications. This course will enable the firefighter to become aware of the advanced operations of the department and understand their position in the organization from a more detailed perspective. Course topics will also include a review of advanced safety regulations and the firefighter's responsibility to comply with those regulations; the elements of an advanced departmental safety program; and the advanced hazards related to fire protection. This course is part of the NC Firefighter Certification Program approved by the NC Fire and Rescue Commission for offering as of January 1, 2015.
