Empowering Successful People to Thrive in a Strong Community Supported by Quality Government.

Located in the picturesque Piedmont area of North Carolina, Guilford County is home to myriad areas and communities in which to live, work, learn, and play – from the thriving urban centers of Greensboro and High Point, to bustling suburbs, unique small towns, rural communities, and local farms.

Guilford County boasts a nationally recognized school system, numerous prestigious colleges and universities, a thriving art scene, significant historical sites, an abundance of parks, trails, and open spaces. The county’s famed learning centers include the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park where one of the most significant battles of the American Revolutionary War took place, and the International Civil Rights Center and Museum, the site of the 1960 Woolworth lunch sit-in which helped spark the movement to end segregation across America.

In addition, more than 250,000 people make their living through Guilford County’s thriving and diverse business community. Our central location and excellent transportation network put businesses within 650 miles of half the U.S. population and within close proximity to the major cities of Charlotte and Raleigh.

Guilford County utilizes strategic service areas to align department operations to promote efficiency, effectiveness, and equity throughout county services. Our organization is structured this way so we can work towards our mission each day.
