Alan Perdue serves as the District 2 Commissioner for Guilford County, a position he has held since December 2014. As one of only two Republicans on the current Board of Commissioners, he represents a diverse community and works diligently to address the needs of over 500,000 residents across approximately 650 square miles in the Piedmont Triad area. Alan's extensive background in public safety and community leadership equips him with a unique perspective on issues pertaining to public policy, emergency management, and organizational development.

As the Executive Director of the Safer Buildings Coalition, Alan advocates for improved indoor communication solutions during emergencies, significantly enhancing safety for both the general public and first responders. His extensive experience also includes serving as the President of Perdue & Associates, Inc., where he provides strategic leadership and consultation focused on maximizing organizational output. This commitment to continuous improvement is a hallmark of his career, which spans more than two decades in various leadership roles within both public and non-profit sectors.

Alan's professional expertise includes crisis management, fire code development and enforcement, emergency management, and fire management. His leadership within the Guilford County Emergency Services department, where he served as Director and Deputy Director for nearly a decade, has provided him with invaluable insights into the operational needs and challenges faced by emergency services in the community. Additionally, his previous appointments to the North Carolina State Building Code Council and the International Association of Fire Chiefs' Board of Directors underscore his commitment to enhancing fire and life safety standards both locally and nationally.

A graduate of John Wesley College with a BA in Management & Ethics, Alan has further developed his skills through training at the National Fire Academy, earning the Executive Fire Officer designation. He is a lifelong resident of Guilford County, where he lives with his family. As Commissioner, Alan remains dedicated to fostering collaboration, transparency, and service to the community, welcoming input from constituents to better serve District 2.
