Political Party: Democrat
Term Expires: 2028
A resident of Guilford County for over 20 years, Carly attended UNCG for both her undergraduate degree in Business Administration and MBA. Carly’s involvement in her son’s elementary school led to an interest in broader advocacy for public education. This sparked a change in her path that ultimately led to public service as a Commissioner.
Commissioner Carly Cooke has been serving on the Guilford County Board of Commissioners since 2020, representing District 5. In this role, she has focused her efforts on support for Public Education, Infant Mortality, Early Childhood Environments, Small Business and Workforce training, and Health Equity in our community. She is currently serving on several committees including the Health and Human Services Advisory Board, the Joint Facilities Committee in concert with Guilford County Schools to collaborate on capital needs for K-12 public schools, the Access to Healthcare workgroup to explore healthcare deserts in the county, and she is chairing the Transportation and Mobility work group to better understand how transportation can be a barrier in our community for our most vulnerable citizens. Additionally, she was appointed to serve on two NC Association of County Commissioners Steering Committees focusing on Public Education and Health and Human Services.
She and her husband, Kevin, stay very busy keeping up with their two boys; most often finding them at a baseball field. When she isn’t working or enjoying youth sports, Carly loves reading, skiing, going to concerts, and traveling.
