Courthouse Tips

To make your visit to the courthouses easier, please review the following tips:

Notice: cell phones, cameras, laptops, and other communication devices are prohibited in the courthouses except when a permit has been issued by a judge or in the case of a juror with a valid juror summons. Lockboxes are available at the entrances to secure cell phones and smaller items. Cost for the lockbox rental is a quarter. The replacement fee for lost keys is $20.

Visitors and jurors who are initially reporting for jury duty must process through the security screening area. This will include placing wallets, belts, coins, and other metal items in bins. Please leave unneeded metal objects, such as: scissors, tools with a shaft exceeding four (4) inches, nail files, pocketknives, box cutters, pepper spray, etc. in your car or home. Be sure to take all items with you when leaving the screening area. If you have a medical condition that prevents you from being scanned with a magnetometer or metal detection device, please let an officer at the x-ray machine know before being screened.

Parking Tips for the Courthouses

Greensboro: If you plan to park in the main lot at the corner of Washington & Eugene Streets, you will need quarters for the meters. There is a change machine in the lot which will accept bills up to $5. If you expect to be in the courthouse for more than four (4) hours, you may want to use the Greene Street Parking Deck at the corner of Greene and Washington Streets. Handicapped residents may park in one of the designated spaces in the main lot and use the entrance located off of Eugene Street.

High Point: All courthouse visitors must use the parking deck. If you are reporting for jury duty, paying a fine or other type of fee, have an appearance in court, are visiting someone at the detention facility or are in need of the magistrate’s services; you must park in the parking deck. There are adequate amounts of handicapped parking in the parking deck as well. All other parking areas are not for courthouse use and are subject to ticketing or being towed.
