The Guilford County SBED program provides benefits for both the county and the business community in our region. Participation in the program helps the county increase its contracting opportunities with SBED companies, resulting in greater job availability and business growth for the local business community. In addition to contributing to the economic well-being of the region, bringing new small businesses into the pool of companies doing business with the county enhances the county’s competitive bidding processes and allows the county to track its spending with SBED firms.

Businesses that complete the NC HUB application will have greater exposure to business opportunities in the county’s procurement and contracting. Only those businesses that are certified by NC HUB will be counted towards fulfilling the county’s goals.

Your firm does not have to be certified as a SBED in order to do business with the county. Anyone can register their business as a vendor with the county by completing a Vendor Registration Form. However, if your business meets the certification requirements for SBED certification, we highly recommend that you participate in the county’s SBED program as it will afford you greater exposure to business opportunities.

Not necessarily. Certification does not guarantee that you will receive a contract with Guilford County. However, certification does provide greater exposure for your firm to the business community. It is important to develop a marketing plan and market your business to the county departments who buy what you sell.

The application process is through NC HUB. Once verified, your company can then register to be placed in the Guilford County Vendor Portal as a certified vendor with the appropriate designation. You will need to reach out to agencies to discover if there are additional requirements to be registered as a certified vendor.
