Inspections

Guilford County Inspections Department provides permitting, plan review, and building inspection services for all unincorporated areas of Guilford County and, through contractual agreements, to the towns of Jamestown, Oak Ridge, Pleasant Garden, Sedalia, Stokesdale, Summerfield, and Whitsett and the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority (PTAA).

The following schedule of fees applies to all Commercial Construction and includes permitting and plan review. Fees denoted with an asterisk (*) include all required trade inspections. Permit fees will be doubled if work commences prior to the issuance of a permit.

New Office or Retail Structures - *Base fee $100 plus $0.25 per square foot per unit

New Industrial or Warehouse Structures - *Base fee $100 plus $0.25 per square foot

New Educational, Assembly or Institutional Structures - *Base fee $1,000 plus $0.20 per square foot

New Multi-Family Structures - *$250 per dwelling unit

Addition or Alteration/Upfit - $0.25 per square foot added/altered plus Trade Fee(s)

New Single-Family Detached Structures - *Base fee $150 plus $0.35 per heated square foot

New Single-Family Attached Structures (Duplex, Townhouse) - *Base fee $150 plus $0.35 per heated square foot per unit

Addition or Alteration/Upfit - $0.35 per heated square foot added/altered plus Trade fee(s), $0.20 per unheated square foot added/altered plus Trade fee(s) or Minimum of $75

Modular Home - *$250

Moved Home - $175

Manufactured Home - *$175

Homeowner Recovery Fund - $10 when a General Contractor applies for any single-family residential dwelling unit or the alteration there of.

Accessory Building/Structure - $0.35 per heated square foot plus Trade fee(s), $0.20 per unheated square foot plus Trade fee(s) or Minimum of $40
