The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program at the Guilford County Division of Public Health announces expanded mobile and digital offerings to support the health and nutrition of low-income local families.
The WIC Program provides healthy foods, nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding promotion and support and referrals to other health and community resources to participants. The program's expanded services include:
- Remote appointments available through the MyNCWIC portal
- WIC and FNS electronic benefits accessible together on the ebtEDGE portal
- Nutrition lessons offered digitally for families on wichealth.org
- A walk-up WIC mobile clinic for new and current participants, stopping in community locations on designated first, second, and third Tuesdays of each month
“We are committed to evolving our program to meet the changing needs of the local families we serve,” said Erin Cashwell, Nutrition Program Director, Guilford County Division of Public Health. “Our efforts will ensure families have support when it is needed the most, while on-the-go or in the comfort of their homes. By increasing our mobile and digital offerings, we are making WIC as accessible and convenient as possible for participants.”
To be eligible for the WIC Program, a person must:
- Be a pregnant woman; a breastfeeding woman who has had a baby in the last 12 months; a woman who has had a baby in the last six months; an infant; or a child under 5 years;
- Reside in North Carolina;
- Meet income eligibility requirements: The gross annual household income cannot exceed 185% of the Federal poverty income guidelines; All Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services (food stamps) and Work First recipients automatically meet the WIC income eligibility criteria; and
- Have an identified nutritional risk as determined by a health professional.
The expanded offerings build upon continued in-person WIC Program services and appointments at the Guilford County Division of Public Health, located in Greensboro (1100 East Wendover Avenue) and High Point (501 East Green Drive) locations, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
