Crops and Pastures

The Guilford County Farm currently has approxiamtely 600 acres of crop and pasture land leased to local farmers, ranging from beginning starter farms looking for their first plots of land, all the way to well-established farms looking to add some acreage to what they already own and operate.

The crops are primarily grown for commercial use with soybean, corn, and wheat as the big producers; but other crops grown and sold for general public purchase are also being considered.

The pastures are home to herds of cattle along with the occasional rescue donkey or horse, with the possibility of sheep and goats in the near future.

More than 200 acres of the leased plots on the farm are certified organic, and more acreage will soon go through the documentation and paperwork stage of organic certification.
