We accept Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield and UnitedHealthcare insurance plans for prenatal care provided in our clinics. Patients with other insurance plans will need to pay for their visit in full at the time of service. A claim will be filed on the patient’s behalf and if payment is received, the patient will receive a refund. Patients who do not have insurance and are not eligible for Medicaid may obtain services at a reduced rate based on family size and income. Patients will be asked to provide proof of income to determine cost of services. If proof of income is not provided, patients are charged full price (100% for each service). If you are not sure of your eligibility for Medicaid, call the Department of Social Services at 336-641-3000 to learn more.
It is the responsibility of patients to cancel and reschedule any appointments they cannot attend ahead of time.
If our patients experience an emergency after clinic hours, they can call or go to The Women’s Hospital of Greensboro or High Point Regional Health System as soon as possible. Medicaid recipients should take their current card with them. Self-pay patients are responsible for the bill they receive from the hospital.
During the first prenatal care visit, our patients are screened for syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and Hepatitis B. Blood typing, blood count and a urine test are also done. More testing is done at specific times during the pregnancy, including an ultrasound at 16-18 weeks and one-hour blood sugar test for diabetes at 26-28 weeks. HIV testing and Neural Tube screening are also offered. A urine sample may be needed at every clinic appointment. Other lab testing may be done as needed.
Patients can expect to have a prenatal appointment every four (4) weeks during the first 28 weeks of their pregnancy. During the 28th to 35th weeks, appointments are every two (2) weeks, and then every week from 36 weeks until the time of delivery. This schedule can change based on specific needs.
To make a prenatal care appointment in either our Greensboro or High Point clinic locations, call 336-641-3245.

CenteringPregnancy
CenteringPregnancy™ is a new way of delivering prenatal care. It is getting great reviews from patients and their health care providers nationally and locally. It is prenatal care that includes a health assessment, education and support. Women with similar due dates meet for their prenatal visits with two (2) co-facilitators about 10 times during their pregnancies in the same Centering room. Each session lasts for about two (2) hours with no time in the waiting room. One (1) of the facilitators is a nurse practitioner or physician assistant and the other is a nurse or childbirth educator. Healthy snacks are served at each group session.
Each patient has a brief check-up in a private corner of the room. Questions voiced during this period can be brought to the group for discussion. If the patient has any serious issues, a separate visit may be scheduled. Women actively participate in their own health care during each session by weighing themselves and taking their own blood pressures, supervised by a nurse or medical assistant.
After the health assessment has been completed, the women and the co-facilitators sit together and discuss some of the many issues related to pregnancy. Support is also an important part of CenteringPregnancy care. The women in the group give each other strength and often form friendships. CenteringPregnancy prenatal care is fun and helps mothers deliver healthier babies. Most participants agree that it is a great way to receive prenatal care.
