Local Emergency Planning Committee

The Guilford County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) is a registered 501(c)(3) organization with the goal of improving collaboration and coordination between public and private sector partners.

The purpose of the LEPC is:

  • To identify business facilities in Guilford County that manufacture, process, or store hazardous chemicals and to assist these facilities in preparing emergency response plans.
  • To inform and educate the public about chemical facilities in the community and actions that can be taken in the event of an accidental chemical spill or release into the environment.
  • To provide governmental and emergency response agencies with information needed for preplanning, training and response to emergencies, associated with chemical spills or releases, that may occur in Guilford County.

Various industries volunteer to host meetings throughout the county. Each meeting includes information on emergency response plans, LEPC Resources, safety topics, and offer networking opportunities.
