Preconception Health
Preconception health begins with planning and spacing children to create a healthy environment for a baby to develop. During pregnancy, early access to quality maternity care that is free of implicit bias and discrimination optimizes maternal health outcomes. After a pregnancy, ensuring an individual is linked to primary care to manage chronic health conditions and their overall health and well-being between pregnancies sets the stage for a healthy subsequent pregnancy.
Sexual Health
Sexual health is a complex topic that covers more than just physical health, like the absence of disease or dysfunction. Sexual wellness is a state of physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being in relation to sexuality. It requires respect for sexuality
and a positive approach to sexual relationships that allows for pleasurable and safe experiences free of discrimination and coercion.
Prenatal Health
A successful pregnancy starts with excellent prenatal health. Whether you choose a doctor, a midwife, or a doula, the experience and knowledge they offer will help you have a healthier baby and lower your risk for complications like premature birth.
Health Navigators
A health navigator is a trained individual or organization that helps community members with their health coverage. Health Navigators assist those with little healthcare knowledge to understand the healthcare and health insurance systems available to them.
Children's Home Society of NC Community Navigation
Community Navigation is a completely free and universal service provided to all prenatal Guilford County residents. A fully trained Navigator is paired with an OB office to help support and address the social needs of each patient. Navigators take the time to meet each individual prenatal patient's non-medical needs and connect them to local resources in our community, saving practitioners time.
