We are in need of citizens to join our volunteer team! Volunteers are a vital part of Guilford County Animal Services and assist the shelter in many different ways. Our opportunities to volunteer are as varied as our volunteers themselves! You must be 18 years or older to serve. Exceptions can be made but you must receive prior approval from the Volunteer Coordinator. Please see the list below for some ways you can help the animals of Guilford County!

Current Volunteer Programs

Blue paw Administrative – assist Volunteer Coordinator with administrative services

Orange Paw Dog Enrichment - walking/grooming/enrichment

Blue paw Dogs Day Out - take a shelter dog out for walks and socialization

Orange Paw Events - Assist staff on and off site with various events

Blue paw Photography / Writing / Creative Services – Limited program currently in progress

Orange Paw Early Morning Kennel Cleaning - assist staff with morning cleaning

Blue paw Canine Comfort Crew - Nursing Home Visits with Shelter Pup

Orange Paw Cat Enrichment - socializing/grooming/enrichment

Blue paw Lobby Greeter – Assist customers to adoption rooms and field questions

Orange Paw Pet of the Week – assist staff with local media appearances

Interested in volunteering? Follow the steps below to start volunteering:
Blue paw Click this link and sign up for your “Get Connected” account.
Orange Paw Visit the app store and download the “Cause Connect” app.
Once you have created an account, look for “Guilford County Animal Resource Center” as the main page for the account.

Anyone interested in volunteering must complete an application, attend orientation and complete training.
