The Facilities and Property Management Department is responsible for managing and maintaining all County-owned buildings and real property. We are a service-oriented department dedicated to providing a safe, clean, and well-functioning environment to comply with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements and/or mandates. The department provides various services which can generally be categorized in the following areas:

Building Operation and Maintenance

Responsible for general maintenance and repair of all buildings and associated systems, as well as, for providing other services such as locksmithing.  A computerized maintenance management system and a building automation system are utilized to increase efficiency while providing these services.

Project Management

Manages all building renovation and new construction projects of all sizes, including multi-million-dollar capital projects.  Staff work with designers, clients, and contractors on projects to ensure County buildings are in good condition, to update spaces, to install new technology, and construct new buildings to accommodate the changing needs of the County.  The division is also responsible for providing information for capital investment planning purposes.

Real Estate & Property Management

Coordinates all real estate transactions for County property, including property purchases and sales, easements, and lease management.  Staff also monitor space utilization and oversee various professional services relating to real property. Additionally, the division manages contracted services such as janitorial, waste management, pest control, and contracted grounds maintenance for County buildings.

Mail Services

Responsible for delivering interoffice mail, sorting incoming U.S. Postal Service mail, and metering all outgoing U.S. Postal Service mail. 

Parking Services

Allocates and assigns parking spaces in County parking lots and decks. Additionally, staff are responsible for managing revenue generated from select County parking decks.

County Road Sign Installation and Replacement

Creates and installs County road signs for new development approved by the Planning Department. Also, staff replaces road signs on County roads in unincorporated areas and in the towns of Pleasant Garden, Stokesdale, Sedalia, and Whitsett.

Facilities Use Request

Coordinates review and approval of Facilities Use Requests received by the general public. Requests are reviewed, approved, and governed by the Guilford County Facilities Use Guidelines. Please note: Requests from news media outlets are not subject to this request process.

Please Note: Guilford County Government is not responsible for maintaining property or facilities for Guilford County Schools. Maintenance for Guilford County Schools is provided by the local school district.
