From our grand opening to anniversary celebrations to our expansion in High Point, the FJC partnership is connected throughout the community. Check out our photo history below.
The Guilford County Family Justice Center celebrated its fifth-year anniversary on June 15, 2020.
Please join us in celebrating the shared successes of the journey so far, lifting the voices of survivors of all ages, and looking ahead to the work still to be done in service to our mission of fostering a safe community for all citizens that is free of violence and abuse.
In 2013 and 2014, Guilford County led the state in the most number of domestic violence related homicides. These staggering statistics coupled with the fragmentation of services provided throughout the County drove a partnership of more than 17 different organizations to create the vision for a one-stop-shop, multiagency collaborative. FJC partners share in a mission to empower family violence victims to live free from violence and abuse and hold offenders accountable by providing easily accessible, coordinated, and comprehensive services in a single location. Now, on average, when a client visits the FJC for the first time he or she works with five different agencies.
From the FJC, survivors access a wide range of supportive resources, such as: victim advocacy, assistance filing a restraining order, safety-planning, guidance from law enforcement officers, counsel regarding civil and criminal legal issues, medical assistance, and information on shelters and other community resources.
The Center’s innovative approach has made a tremendous impact in the community since its inception.
The FJC’s success is rooted in partnership among agencies across the community. Organizations located at the Center include:
Children’s Law Center of Center North Carolina, Cone Health System, Family Service of the Piedmont, Greensboro and Hope House- Children Advocacy Centers, Greensboro Police Department, Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, High Point Police Department, Kellin Foundation, Elon University Emergency Legal Services Program, and Legal Aid.
