What is a Doula?

A doula is trained to guide you through labor with relaxation and breathing exercises, massage, words of encouragement, and other comforting measures. A doula may also work with your support person to encourage involvement and foster a positive experience. A doula does not replace your healthcare provider or other medical staff.

A doula's service may include:

  • Providing physical, informational, and emotional support
  • Assisting before, during, and shortly after birth
  • Advocating for client birth preferences
  • Working with midwives to promote healthy delivery
  • Working with doctors to promote prenatal care

Doulas do not perform any medical procedures, provide medical advice, or manage high-risk pregnancies. A doula is not a substitute for a midwife or doctor.

Meet Our Doulas

Chanetta Arnold

Chanetta Arnold

I am a proud mom of three precious jewels. My hobbies are crafting, traveling and giving from the heart. In becoming a doula, I have found my passion. I have had some great experiences with my clients. Being able to show support whether big or small has been priceless. Being present at the most important thing a woman can do which is childbirth is unbelievable. I have clients that have ended as friendships, I must say I’m blessed!

Daijah Dixon

As a Queer Black Doula, I recognize the importance of identity in all settings, especially birth work. That’s why I intentionally uplift my clients’ voices and celebrate who they are; YOU deserve to be heard and genuinely cared for. Through my services I aim to give birthing people a sense of security and control during their entire birth experience!

Kahiliah Moore

Kahiliah Moore

I have 12 years of experience in the healthcare industry as a CNA. After the birth of my daughter in 2017, I became an advocate for breastfeeding, which led to me becoming a Certified Lactation Counselor in 2018. I later became a doula to serve the women in the community either in person or virtually. I’m the owner of K & K Lact and Moore. My goal is to help prepare women for birth in as many ways as possible throughout the entire laboring process. I will help women achieve birth as an informed and supported woman. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

I am extremely passionate about mental, maternal, and infant health. I enjoy working with families to ensure they feel fully and adequately prepared for childbirth, labor, and postpartum by providing physical, emotional and educational support. As your doula, my goals are to provide a safe, unbiased, nonjudgmental space for you and to provide current evidence-based information so that you have the power to make informed choices over your body, baby, and birth.

Kayla Croutch

Kayla Croutch

I love working with children. Over the years, I began to grow a love for mothers as well as children. I then started working for a company that serves first time mothers as they begin a new journey into motherhood. I became a doula back in 2021 and became a postpartum doula in mid 2023. It brings me joy and happiness to be able to support moms the best way I can during the most exciting yet challenging time in their lives, while encouraging women to tap into a "superpower" they didn't know they had. As your doula, I vow to make you feel seen, heard, and important. Remember mom, you're just as important as the baby.

I am originally from the High Point/ Greensboro area. As a student of medical anthropology, I have developed a deep passion for contributing to research projects and population-based research and have worked towards the improvement of public health initiatives and the reduction of health disparities on the micro and macro levels. I am confident that my academic coursework and prior work experiences qualify me for this role. My innate social skills, experience with project coordination, and collaborative nature will lend well to this research project. I have a passion for public health concerns, specifically rates of breastfeeding in the Black-American community. I enjoy working autonomously and collaboratively with others.

Experience with non-profit program for first time mothers and having support is important in having a successful childbirth. My ultimate goal is to be a support system and advocate for mothers, along with giving mothers the courage to express their needs and wants for birth. My mission is to reach as many mothers as possible and to help ensure they have a safe birth with the expected outcome. I strongly feel that no woman should give birth alone. I am very passionate about childbirth and look forward to working with the families in the community.

I am honored to be a part of such a special moment in your life and look forward to working together to achieve a positive childbirth experience.

I am thrilled to serve as your bilingual doula. Additionally, as I pursue my goal of becoming a doctor, I work as a nursing assistant in a Children's Trauma and Surgery unit, where I have received training to become a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) and gained a deep understanding of the importance of accessible and equitable healthcare.
