The Guilford County Department of Public Health provides a wide range of adult health services. Some of these services are designed to address the healthcare needs of all Guilford County residents and all services are designed to meet the needs of uninsured/underinsured low income residents. Communicable Diseases

Life in 24 is a Diabetes Prevention Program to help people who have pre-diabetes or who are at high risk for Type 2 diabetes make realistic and achievable lifestyle changes that can cut their risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes by 50%. Take this pre-diabetes test to evaluate your risk for developing diabetes. Services for Women (Adults and Teens)

Family Planning Services provide a full range of birth control options plus education and counseling. New patient visit and annual return visits include a complete examination, pap test as indicated, and other laboratory as indicated. Included is our Regional Vasectomy Program for men. Maternity Care is provided through pregnancy, including a six week postpartum exam. Women who meet eligibility criteria for the Medicaid for Pregnant Women program, receive care free. CenteringPregnancy™ is a new way of delivering prenatal care. It is a prenatal care that includes health assessment, education and support. Women with similar due dates meet for their prenatal visits with two co-facilitators about 10 times during their pregnancies in the same Centering room. Primary Care for Medicaid Carolina Access Women is available through the Guilford County Department of Public Health. As primary care provider for the North Carolina Medicaid Carolina Access Medicaid Managed Care program, women may designate the Women’s Health clinic as their primary care provider. Childbirth Education Classes are open to the public and offered to help families prepare for the best possible childbirth experience as well as to promote lifelong health and wellness. Classes are offered throughout the year and meet on the same night once a week for five weeks. Medicaid covers the cost of the classes for the mother-to-be and her partner. For participants without Medicaid, the cost of the class series is $45.00 for the mother-to-be and her partner. Class size is limited and registration is required. For more information or to register call 336-641-4718. Baby items donated by Covers4kids and the Junior League of Greensboro are given away during each class series.

Services for Women and Men

Sexually Transmitted Infection appointments, including HIV testing, are available daily (weekdays, except holidays). Call early as same-day appointments are limited. International Travel Clinic provides up to the minute recommended vaccines for your travel destination. We also provide essential health and political information to help insure a safe and pleasurable travel experience. This program is self-sustaining, however, fees are very competitive. Home Visiting Services for elderly and the disabled are available to residents of Guilford County who are in need of care that compares to the care offered by a nursing home, have needs that can be met by the program, and have CAP/DA Medicaid. Medication Assistance Program serves as a link between pharmaceutical companies and patients to provide low cost or free prescription medications.
