To participate in WIC, persons must be income eligible and have a qualifying medical or nutritional need. The eligibility guidelines are listed below:
- Live in North Carolina.
- Be a pregnant woman; a woman who has been pregnant in the last 6 months; a breastfeeding woman who has had a baby in the last 12 months; an infant or child up to age five.
- Be income eligible. Income is based on the size of the family unit and the total household income. Persons participating in Medicaid, Food Stamps, or Work First are already income eligible. See the Income Eligibility Chart here for specific Qualifying Income Guidelines.
- Have a qualifying medical or nutritional need as determined by a WIC Nutritionist.
To apply for WIC, you may visit or call the WIC office. The WIC Program has a site located in both the Greensboro and High Point Health Departments. Both sites are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Greensboro site is open until 7:00 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of every month. The High Point site is open until 7:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month. Be sure to let staff know if you need an evening appointment. You will be given an appointment to begin the process of receiving services. You can also Request an Appointment online here.
