Home MenuBreastfeeding Support
Did you know? You get larger food packages and receive benefits longer if you’re FULLY or MOSTLY breastfeeding.
WIC can help provide the services and support you need to meet your breastfeeding goals.
If you’re fully breastfeeding, you are eligible to receive our largest food package up to one year after having your baby. When your baby turns 6 months old, they will also be eligible to receive a greater amount of baby food.
If you’re mostly breastfeeding, you are also eligible to receive more food for yourself or your baby up to one year after having your baby.
Individual Counseling
Most of our WIC Nutritionists are trained Lactation Educators who can answer your questions about breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program
Be sure to enroll in the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program during pregnancy. You will receive useful breastfeeding information in-person, over the phone, and by text message. Our Peer Counselors are moms who have breastfed their own babies and are specially trained to help you on your breastfeeding journey.
Infant Feeding Class
Join other pregnant women in our class so you can learn how to breastfeed successfully. Infant feeding class is typically scheduled during your third trimester.
Breast Pump Loans
If you are planning to return to work or school, we may be able to provide you with an electric breast pump. If your baby is premature or has certain medical conditions, you may qualify for a breast pump. Just ask your nutritionist or peer counselor about our breast pumps, and they will work with you to meet your needs.
Breastfeeding Warmline
If you have breastfeeding questions, feel free to leave a message on our warmline 336-641-4114 (Greensboro) or 336-641-7689 (High Point). A member of our breastfeeding team checks messages every day including weekends and holidays. Your call will be returned within 24 hours.
