a variety of healthy fruits,vegetables,nuts,and grains.Good nutrition during early childhood is essential for the healthy growth and development of your child. Healthy eating habits and behaviors are important to establish early on in their life.

Each child who is enrolled in the program will be assigned a food package. Based on that food package, you may receive benefits from WIC to purchase specific foods like:

  • $9 for fruits and vegetables (fresh, canned, or frozen)
  • 36 ounces of breakfast cereal which is low in sugar and high in iron
  • 3 gallons of whole milk (ages 1-2 years) nonfat or 1% milk (over 2 years old) – provides calcium, protein, and vitamins A and D
  • 32 ounces of nonfat or low-fat yogurt for even more calcium and probiotics
  • 16 ounces of cheese
  • 1 dozen eggs which are a great source of protein
  • 128 ounces of 100% juice (no sugar added) for Vitamin C
  • More foods that are great sources of protein:
    • 16-18 ounces of peanut butter OR
    • 16 ounces dry beans, peas, or lentils

You will also have the opportunity to meet with one of our nutritionists to learn about good nutrition for children. They will also discuss healthy eating habits, how to prepare healthy meals and snacks, and your personal nutrition goals.
