mother spoon feeding babyTo participate in WIC, persons must be income eligible and have a qualifying medical or nutritional need. The eligibility guidelines are listed below:

  • Live in North Carolina.
  • Be a pregnant woman; a postpartum woman who has had a baby in the last 6 months; a breastfeeding woman who has had a baby in the last 12 months; an infant or child up to age five.
  • Be income eligible. Income is based on the size of the family unit and the total household income. Persons participating in Medicaid, Food Stamps, or Work First are already income eligible. See the Income Eligibility Chart here for specific Qualifying Income Guidelines.
  • Have a qualifying medical or nutritional need as determined by a WIC Nutritionist.
