Amplifying Every Voice
Every Baby Guilford collected the perinatal health stories from 27 Guilford County birthing people in a project called Amplifying Every Voice.
Amplifying Every Voice kicked off the implementation of the first intervention of Strategy 1: To advance health equity. By listening to Guilford County birthing people, particularly people of color's experiences with health care, and amplifying their voice to our health care systems, policy leaders, and decision makers, Every Baby Guilford aims to change the narrative that racism and implicit bias has created for birth people of color.
To improve perinatal care and health outcomes, by, with, and for Black birthing people in Guilford County, Every Baby Guilford is focusing on this community as a priority because they are an often-overlooked population and the disparity rates for Black infants has remained higher than any other race/ethnicity for 30 years. We are starting with improving the way the health care system serves the needs of birthing people in Guilford County, believing there are meaningful opportunities for significant improvements within the systems and its institutions that can impact perinatal and infant morbidity and mortality and patient experience. The goal is to listen and partner with those most impacted and to identify scalable approaches for improvement in Guilford County’s health care system. Our staff, board, and community partners believe this is a priority area and are highly committed to capturing and amplifying the perinatal health experiences of Black birthing people in Guilford County.
