In the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Report to the Nations 2024,  the survey revealed that "at lease 85% of all Fraudsters displayed at least one Behavioral Red Flag."

red flagsThe following were the top ten behavioral red flags of fraud:

  1. Living beyond means
  2. Financial difficulties
  3. Unusually close association with vendor/customer
  4. No Behavioral red flags
  5. Control issues, unwillingness to share duties
  6. Irritability, suspiciousness, or defensiveness
  7. "Wheeler-dealer" attitude
  8. Bullying or intimidation
  9. Divorce/family problems
  10. Complained about inadequate pay
